How to Keep Your Jewellery From Tangling (at home)

In this blog post we are going to give you some tips and tricks on how to keep your jewellery tangle free. Whether you display your jewellery on your desk or keep them in cute boxes in your drawers.

Tangled necklaces, missing earrings and jewellery that has turned green are all pet hates for us. Especially when you are running late and you have the perfect piece of jewellery to compliment your outfit in your head but you just can't find the back of the earring?

Where do they all go?

So here at Rosy Collective we have put together some tips for keeping your jewellery safe!

Tips on how to keep your jewellery from tangling

How to keep your necklaces from tangling

There are many ways to display your jewellery but this does not always mean space conscious and tangle free zones. Keep an eye out on our blog posts because we will delve deeper into space saving and other ways to display your jewellery in the coming weeks!

Our first tip is a necklace stand, now if you have a desk this is a perfect way to display your favourite necklaces keeping them for easy access and to keep them from tangling up!

Necklace stands however do only tend to have around 5-6 extending arms on them which makes it difficult if you want to store all of your necklaces on there. Therefore we would only recommend buying one for your top faves.

For the remainder of your necklaces we stackers! Now the stackers home storage sets are absolutely gorgeous. Not only can you mix and match colours but you can mix and match how you keep your storage and we have done this for our earrings. But we will get onto that in a second, back to necklaces.

One of our personal favourites is the necklace layer, much like the necklace stand the number of rows you are given is limited but these are for necklaces which you may not wear as much, but by having the stand and the layer you can rotate every month of so and because everything is laid out so beautifully you'll want to get creative with your necklace layering!

Tip two for necklaces is more so if you are wearing them, which we will explore more in later blogs but it is pretty handy for keeping them tangle free on your necklace stand.

It is called a layered necklace strange de tangler (very long information name!) but you essentially clip either side of the necklace onto the necklace as it has 3 layers and it keeps them tangle free! We have one from amazon which we love (linked here) and super cheap which is even better.

How can I stop losing earrings?

Earrings are our best friends and we love earring stacks! At Rosy Collective we love piercings and our ears are full of hoops and lovely dainty studs.

But how do you go about not losing them?

Back to the stackers! We have the section which could be used for rings but we have used them for earrings. As we love organisation.. maybe a little too much we have separated our earrings in plating colours and then studs vs hoops. There is so much fun to have when organising your jewellery!

We would agree that this is a great way to keep your earrings all in one safe. However for earrings you may take our when you shower or sleep, we would recommend little trinkets. There are so many gorgeous trinkets that you can keep on a side table by your bed or in your bathroom so you remember where they are.

Below are some of our faves!

Anthropologie Nathalie Lete Trinket Dish

Added bonus: How to keep your jewellery clean

As a quick added bonus we wanted to give you 3 easy tips on how to keep your jewellery clean and untarnished!

1. To clean tarnish away we recommend getting soapy water and with an old toothbrush gently scrub the ring or the pendant of the necklace. Rinse in lukewarm water and leave on a soft cloth to dry. (for highly tarnished jewellery we advise taking it to a jewellers)

2. For tarnished silver jewellery line a tray with a clean piece of foil and spread your jewellery on it. Sprinkle a little bit of baking sofa onto each piece and then boil a few cups of water and carefully pour onto the jewellery.

The reason for the foil is that it collects the tarnish from the jewellery and picks it up and off to clean it. We recommend to do one side of your jewellery and then turn it over and do the other side so everything is cleaned evenly!

3. A very easy tip is to avoid wearing your costume jewellery in the shower because the hard water can be quite rough on the jewellery and the steam can allow the cubic zirconia or gems to loosen and and cause rusting.
